Where to post your survey to get responses in 2026
Post where the people you need to hear from already are. For a class project or open opinion research, that is a survey-swap community. For a one-question gut check, a poll. For a specific group, fast, a paid panel. For your own customers, it is none of these: ask them yourself, at the moment the thing you are asking about happens.
Where can you post a survey for free?
You can post a survey for free in survey-swap communities, where people answer each other’s surveys, and as a poll inside a social network. Swap communities work on reciprocity: you fill in other people’s surveys, and they or the site’s ranking send people back to yours. Each place below was read on the date in its row.
Survey-swap communities on Reddit
| r/SampleSize | Post titles must carry a flair (Academic, Marketing or Casual), the topic and the intended demographic. One repost a day, tagged as a repost. (source: r/SampleSize, checked October 11, 2026) |
|---|---|
| r/SurveyExchange | A straight swap: post yours, fill in someone else’s. Start the title with the survey type in brackets, wait 24 hours before reposting, no promoting paid survey apps; every post is approved by a moderator. (source: r/SurveyExchange, checked October 11, 2026) |
| r/takemysurvey | Posts must be a link to a survey. Its rules include “NO ‘chatbot’ surveys” and no Reddit polls. (source: r/takemysurvey, checked October 11, 2026) |
| Member counts | r/SampleSize about 270,000, r/SurveyExchange about 57,000, r/takemysurvey about 34,000, as GummySearch counted them on October 1 and 2, 2026. (source: GummySearch, checked October 11, 2026) |
Survey-swap websites
| SurveyCircle | Free. You earn points by taking part in other people’s studies, and points move your study up its ranking. Paid upgrades for more participants. Says 150,000+ survey managers have used it. (source: SurveyCircle, checked October 11, 2026) |
|---|---|
| SurveySwap | Fill in other researchers’ surveys to earn Karma, then spend it on responses to yours; or pay for verified respondents. Its free exchange draws “students worldwide, young professionals, Gen Z.” (source: SurveySwap, checked October 11, 2026) |
Polls inside a social network
| LinkedIn poll | Runs one day, three days, one week or two weeks. The poll’s author can see who voted and how each person voted. (source: LinkedIn, checked October 11, 2026) |
|---|---|
| X poll | Up to four options of 25 characters each, open from 5 minutes to 7 days. Votes are private: the poll’s creator cannot see who voted. (source: X, checked October 11, 2026) |
| Nextdoor poll | Up to six responses, shared with your neighborhood, nearby neighborhoods or a group you belong to. Votes are anonymous, even to the poll’s author. (source: Nextdoor, checked October 11, 2026) |
Paid response panels
| PickFu | From $1 a response, 15 to 500 responses a survey on standard plans, from a pool it puts at 15M+ respondents. (source: PickFu, checked October 11, 2026) |

Which place fits your survey?
The place that fits is decided by who has to answer, not by where the most people are. A large audience of the wrong people gives you a large pile of answers you cannot use.
- Anyone, for coursework or general opinion research: a survey-swap subreddit or website.
- Your professional network, on one question: a LinkedIn poll.
- Your followers, on one question: an X poll.
- People who live near you: a Nextdoor poll.
- A specific group of strangers, quickly: a paid response panel.
- Your own customers, clients or leads: your own channels, at the moment it matters (see below).
What are the rules in survey-swap communities?
Survey-swap communities set rules about how a post is titled, how often you repost, and what kind of survey is allowed, and moderators remove posts that break them. Read the rules on the day you post; the ones in the table above are the ones we read on the date shown. Three are easy to miss:
- The title does the work. r/SampleSize wants the flair, the topic and the intended demographic in the title, so a reader can tell in one line whether the survey is for them.
- Reposts are rationed. Both r/SampleSize and r/SurveyExchange limit how often the same survey can be posted again.
- Some kinds of survey are banned outright. r/takemysurvey’s rules include “NO ‘chatbot’ surveys” and no Reddit polls. If your survey is a conversation rather than a form, or is about chatbots, open that rule and read it before you post.
Are responses from a survey swap any good?
Responses from a survey swap are good for what a swap is for: practice, coursework and broad opinion questions. The people answering are mostly other survey writers, answering so that someone answers theirs, and the communities say so themselves — SurveySwap describes its free exchange as students, young professionals and Gen Z.
That makes a swap a poor stand-in for a particular group. If the question is about your customers, your town or your industry, a stranger answering to earn credit is answering a question about someone else. Ask a screening question first, and read open-text answers before you count anything.
Is a poll on LinkedIn, X or Nextdoor a survey?
A poll on LinkedIn, X or Nextdoor is one question with a few fixed answers, which makes it quick to post and quick to answer, and too small for anything that needs a reason behind the answer. Use one to check which of a few options people lean toward, then ask the people who voted for the reason in a reply or a follow-up survey.
Privacy differs, and it changes what people will tell you. On LinkedIn the poll’s author can see who voted and how each person voted. On X and Nextdoor votes are private, even from the author. A question people would rather not answer in front of their colleagues belongs on a private poll or in a survey.
Should you pay for survey responses?
Pay for survey responses when you need a specific group of strangers quickly and you cannot reach them yourself — for example, a product idea tested on people who match a buyer profile. Paid panels such as PickFu sell responses one at a time, and swap sites like SurveySwap sell verified respondents alongside the free exchange.
Do not pay for responses when the question is about your own customers. A panel can sell you more people; it cannot sell you the people who bought from you, booked you or left last month.
Where should a business post a survey to its own customers?
A business should put a survey in front of its own customers at the moment the thing it asks about happens, in the place that moment happens. Nobody else can reach these people, and no amount of posting elsewhere replaces them.
- After a purchase or a finished job: a link in the receipt, the confirmation email or the follow-up message.
- On your site: where people ask for a quote, book, sign up or cancel.
- In person: a QR code at the counter, on the invoice or on the job sheet.
- To your list: an email or newsletter link, with one sentence on why you are asking and what changes as a result.
Posting it is the smaller half of the work. The rest is getting each person who starts to finish, with an answer you can use — which is what how to get more survey responses covers.
How does Acquainto help a survey get finished?
Acquainto runs the questions as a short written conversation instead of a form. You describe what you need to find out in plain language, and it builds the conversation from that. Then it:
- asks a follow-up when an answer is incomplete, and asks for clarification when one is vague;
- uses a structured choice where precision matters and open conversation where detail matters;
- hands back one clean value per question.
It is not the only tool that follows up any more; several survey tools now ask AI follow-up questions too, and our SurveySparrow comparison says where one of them is the better choice. Acquainto is built for the person your team has to act on: a lead, a client or a customer with something to tell you. See how it works, or compare plans.
